Denver Beer Hunter’s Report – 08/31/2012

Here’s this week’s report:

  • Pumpkin beers? Already?  I’m reluctant to even talk about them in this 90 degree weather.  If that’s your thing, there’s a whole truck load of pumpkin beers making the rounds.
  • Pliny the Elder is showing up around town.  As well as some other boring stuff.  Yawn.
  • Sierra Nevada/Russian River Brux!  Holy crap….it’s finally here!!!  But now…I don’t even want it…took too damn long for me to care anymore.
  • Elevation Beer Company Signal de Botrange Farmhouse Ale Aged in Chardonnay Wine Barrels is coming soon.  They bottled it July 15, so it should hit soon.  We should see this soon.  It’s showing up in kegs around town this week…sooooo…
  • Avery Rumpkin is planned for Saturday, Sept 29 and Odio Equum is planned for Sunday, Oct. 7.  W00t!
  • Also on Sept 29, Ska will release their Autumnal Mole Stout.  This is part of their new seasonal release program which are made available on the equinox or solstice of  each of the four seasons of the year.  It should hit Denver shortly afterwards.
  • Did you hear that Cigar City will be bringing some of their brews to Denver during the GABF?  Freshcraft, Falling Rock and Star Bar will have some of their beers on tap.  Awesome!  And this is only the beginning my friends…visit my handy, dandy GABF Calendar to see all the awesome events.  The GABF Calendar is continuously updated as events come available.  Holy cow!
  • Remember that time I reported about Stone “Enjoy By” and then it didn’t show up in Denver?  Haha…good times.  Well, it is coming to Denver…in October.  I’ve heard late October and I’ve heard during GABF.  Regardless, when it comes out, buy it ASAP…even if at work, and drink it in the bathroom so it’s as fresh as possible.  Drink it during your wedding ceremony!  Drink it during your Bat Mitzah! While flying a plane! Freshness yo!

Denver Beer Hunter’s Report – 08/24/2012

Here’s this week’s report:

  • Odell Deconstruction is making the rounds.
  • The New Belgium/Alpine Beer Company Super India Pale Ale should be hitting this week…maybe.  It’s hit every-freaking-where else…not sure why people 1500 miles away have gotten it already and we are getting it just now (again…maybe).  Even Ft. Collins has it…just not Denver.  (Here’s the story as I understand it. All Leaps of Faith beers use the same UPC, so the distributor wants all the previous beer gone before releasing the latest beer. Apparently, all the Brett Beer is not yet gone (as of last week).  So, we need to wait until that’s gone.  Maybe this week?  Or next?  Anyone ready for some faded hops?)  SUPER UPDATE!!!  There has been sightings in Denver….repeat, there has been sightings in Denver!  Git some! Also, look out for Peach Porch Lounger, the Saison collaboration with New Belgium and G. Love.  This stuff sounds like it’s going to be some special sauce (sorry, I had to).
  • Others: Mikkeller’s SpontanFramboosShipyard Brewing Company Pugsley’s Smashed Pumpkin.
  • What the Brux?  (I’m really tired of waiting for this.  But just like Super IPA…this is distributed by Coors who lack any sense of craft beer urgency. I’ll save the brutal language for private conversations.)  (Word is, this might arrive this week, along with the Beer Camp box.  We’ll see…)
  • Elevation Beer Company Signal de Botrange Farmhouse Ale Aged in Chardonnay Wine Barrels is coming soon.  They bottled it July 15, so it should hit soon.  We should see this soon.
  • According to this article, Denver is not one of the markets that will get Stone’s Enjoy By 09.21.12 IPA.  BUT…one of my beer guys told me the local distributors are taking orders.  So, we’ll see what happens next week.  Nope, we aren’t getting it…this time.  But look for future iterations of this freshie.

Denver Beer Hunter’s Report – 08/17/2012

    • River North released Avarice, a Belgian-style Imperial Stout, in bombers last Thursday (8/9).
    • The Boulevard/Pretty Things Collaboration Stingo hit last week.  More this week, keep an eye out.
  • Stone’s 16th Anniversary Ale, a 10% ABV double IPA, released on August 13th.  Look for it in Denver after that. (psst…word is it may hit as early as this week…we’ll see.)  (08/14/2012 UPDATE: Supposedly, it’s in town and should hit shelves this week)
  • Anchorage Whiteout Wit Bier and Galaxy White IPA are around town.
  • According to this article, Denver is not one of the markets that will get Stone’s Enjoy By 09.21.12 IPA.  BUT…one of my beer guys told me the local distributors are taking orders.  So, we’ll see what happens next week.

All Leaps of Faith beers use the same UPC, so the distributor wants all the previous beer gone before releasing the latest beer. Apparently, all the Brett Beer is not yet gone, something like 42 cases still left as of today.  So, we need to wait until that’s gone.  Maybe…again, MAYBE…next week.  Not sure why this is unique to Denver…        Anyone ready for some faded hops?)
  • What the Brux?  (I’m really tired of waiting for this.  But just like Super IPA…this is distributed by Coors who lack any sense of craft beer urgency. I’ll save the brutal language for private conversations.)  (08/14/2012 Update: Word is, this is finally arriving late this week/early next week, along with the Beer Camp box.  We’ll see…)
  • Elevation Beer Company Signal de Botrange Farmhouse Ale Aged in Chardonnay Wine Barrels is coming soon.  They bottled it July 15, so it should hit soon.  I recently read that it’s “weeks away”.  #sadpanda

  • Will Denver be seeing the Boulevard/Pretty Things Collaboration?  I sure hope so, but have heard nothing.  Any word out there?
  • What the Brux?
